Our 2025 matrics delivered a 100% pass rate with 59 subject distinctions and all but one learner earning a Bachelors admission pass.

Recent Highlights — To Mid-Year 2026
2026 got off to an excellent start with the really good 2025 Grade 12 Results: a 100% Pass Rate and all but one student gaining a Bachelors Admission Pass, along with 59 Subject distinctions — our TOP STUDENT was Ms Kuhlekonke Hlongwa (Riverwood College), who also attained EIGHT Subject Distinctions.
Kuhlekonke is now studying MB ChB at UCT and was awarded a magnificent bursary from RM (Rural Metro).
Miss Bongi Ndlovu and Valencia Mzila with alumni Thandolethu Zuma (MONDI Forestry) and Dr Sbulelo Mvelase — a lecturer and researcher in the Dept of Horticulture at DUT. His work focuses on postharvest physiology, food security & sustainable horticultural solutions like plant-based edible coatings.

Special visit from UK Donors — the Frank Jackson Foundation and their NEW Trustees in March 2026. We were delighted to meet Esther Blackburn and Rob Harper, along with our old friend Lisa Mills.
The Grade 11 Class presented a traditional Zulu Betrothal Ceremony, for the entertainment of our Guests!
Major donors of PROTEC PMB, the Datatec Educational & Technology Foundation, are always keen to assist in making life better for our students, and supplied extra funding this year for a teatime juice/hot chocolate drink and home-baked items eg scones, muffins etc.
Fabric Design — Artist, Mrs Cornel de Koker, teaching Grade 10s about pigments, the Colour Wheel, dyes and patterns during their T-Shirt Tie/Dye workshop during Vac School.
Some of the amazing Tie/Dye T-Shirts which were created by Grade 10s during their Fabric Design workshop — every one unique, just like the colours and patterns they experimented with.
From uMngeni uThukela Water, Hulamin and MONDI Forests who participated in the Grade 12 Career Panel Discussion 2026 — we had a Medical Surgeon, Management Accountant, Research Forester, Hydrologist, Civil Engineer with special interest in water hydraulics, Educator, Biometrics Expert and an Extraction Metallurgist all present on the panel — FOUR were alumni!
SAICE Bridge Building — designing and building bridges commenced in April 2026. Our Grade 11 team put their engineering skills to the test, working through the design, planning and construction of their model bridges.
The PROTEC PMB Grade 11 Team fared the best in the regionals!
Grade 12 Work Experience Week — this followed finalisation of choice of students' Top 3 Career choices for 2027. The group were fortunate enough to be hosted at Nortech, PMB — a traffic and human counting ICT company.
Mrs Taryn Govender of TarynG Development and Training — leading her inspiring and thought provoking STUDY OPTIONS for employment Workshop, which she has led at PROTEC PMB for many years! Taryn presents the most up to date figures on employment, scarce skills etc.
